Islam and Language

This book contributes Islamic inputs to the study of language and reads through Muslim views of ite communicative functions. It studies Islamising language and linguistics, language phenomenon in the Qur'an and Hadith, and analyses selected theories of Muslim scholars on language usage, competence, deficiency, origin, identity and change.Muslim perspectives of relation of language with knowledge, human rights, purpose and principles of Shari'ah, Da'wah, Aqidah and ethics were taken as examples of linguistics integration with other fields of Islmaic sciences.
